The Art of Design
I flipped through this in the Pompidou Centre bookstore. First published in 1971, "Design as Art" is now a design classic. We should read the chapter on chairs (the picture to the right is one of Munari's drawings). I sense that Munari, an Italian, shares the Bauhaus emphasis on function, beauty and accessibility. But what about sociality? The chair, not as a singular object, but as part of a group (and not just a room): check out?
